Christianity

Christianity is a straightforward, conversational introduction to what the Bible teaches and why it matters. We begin with the basics—God, sin, grace, and Jesus—and work our way through the central teachings of the Christian faith. Rather than assuming you already know the Bible, we open Scripture together, ask questions, and take the time to understand not only what Christians believe, but why they believe it.

The class is designed for people from all kinds of backgrounds. You may be exploring Christianity for the first time, returning to church after many years, considering membership at Messiah, or simply realizing that there are some gaps in what you know. There is no expectation that you already have the answers, and questions are always welcome. The goal is simple: to know God better by knowing what he has actually said in his Word.

We use Pastor Lewis’s study guide, Christianity: The Very Least Every Believer Ought to Know, throughout the class. A copy is provided to each participant, so all you need to bring is yourself—and perhaps a question or two.

These videos come from an earlier version of the Christianity course that Pastor Lewis taught online during the COVID years. The current class has been substantially revised and expanded, but these lessons will give you a good idea of the biblical approach, teaching style, and kinds of questions we explore together.

These recordings are supplemental resources and do not correspond exactly to the lessons in the current 12-chapter Christianity class.
